- Total IDNMSA Bursary for funding is max 10,000 euro yearly (Sept-Sept).
- Max awarded to any one member in one year is 500 euro.
- The Bursary operates on ‘First come first served’ basis.
- New applicant must be a paid member for a minimum of 1 year.
- If arrear membership has been paid to date the member must still wait 1 year prior to applying for funding.
- The IDNMSA member must have attended the AGM 1 time in the past 3 years to be eligible for funding.
- Funding will only be issued on receipt of the payment by the applicant and not a receipt from a third party such as from Hospital funding, state funding, Pharmaceutical funding. Proof of payment by the applicant/self-funding must be shown. Also invoice receipt must be shown.
- Both ‘Full members’ and ‘Associated members’ may apply for funding.
- Members working in ‘private’ and ‘public’ hospitals may apply for funding.
Timing of applications for funding should be prior to the conference/education course.
The IDNMSA can give a provisional ‘yes’ to award funding to a member when an application is received prior to conference or education course. The funding will be ‘put on hold’ for this member to ensure the bursary does not run out. Funding will then be issued on receipt of the payment by the applicant/ invoice receipt after the conference or education course has occurred.
The applicant must indicate :
- If funding is for fees associated with a conference/education course OR
- If funding is associated with costs of the above eg: travel expenses or accommodation costs.
Applicants can only apply for either conference/education fees OR conference travel/accommodation costs. NOT BOTH.
Applications for funding are categorized into 5 sections:
1) Funding for an International Conference abroad.
- Max awarded for cost of conference is 500 euro OR Max awarded for cost of travel/expenses is 200 euro
- The applicant will only receive amount shown on receipt/proof of payment.
- The IDNMSA can award part payment if the costs exceed max amount.
2) Funding for a National Conference within Ireland.
- Max awarded for cost of conference is 250 euro OR Max awarded for cost of travel/expenses is 100 euro
- The applicant will only receive amount shown on receipt/proof of payment.
- The IDNMSA can award part payment if the cost exceeds max amount.
3) Funding for an International ‘Course or module’ abroad.
- Max awarded for cost of education is 500 euro OR Max awarded for cost of travel/expenses is 200 euro
- The IDNMSA must recognise the education course/module and reserves the right to refuse same if it is not recognised or directly associated with diabetes.
- The applicant will only receive amount shown on receipt /proof of payment.
- The IDNMSA can award part payment if cost exceeds max amount.
4) Funding for a National ‘Course or module’ within Ireland.
- Max awarded for cost of education is 250 euro OR Max awarded for cost of travel/expenses is 100 euro
- The IDNMSA must recognise the education course/module and reserves the right to refuse same if it is not recognised or directly associated with diabetes.
- The applicant will only receive amount shown on receipt /proof of payment.
- The IDNMSA can award part payment if cost exceeds max amount.
5) Funding for a National third level Education, HDip Diabetes, Masters or ANP/AMP (Level 9)
- Max awarded for cost of education is 500 euro OR Max awarded for cost of travel/expenses is 200 euro
- The IDNMSA can award costs to members undertaking a HDip in Diabetes, Masters relevant to Diabetes or Diabetes ANP/AMP courses in all recognised third level institutions.
- The applicant must be self-funding the course either partial or fully and be able to show proof of this.
- There is only one payment permitted per course. For example, max awarded to a member undertaking a two year Masters is one payment of 500 euro in total.
- The applicant will only receive amount shown on receipt /proof of payment.
- The IDNMSA can award part payment if cost exceeds max amount.
